Valley of Fire
Growing up in Las Vegas has allowed me a unique firsthand experience of the significant impact drought can have on daily life. My fashion collection draws inspiration from the captivating allure of the desert, showcasing its inherent beauty. However, the looming threat of Nevada's drought poses a serious risk to preserving this natural splendor. Neglecting this urgent matter may lead to irreversible loss, forever changing the Nevada desert.
My desert-inspired fashion collection aims to promote water conservation by incorporating textures and elements reminiscent of the arid landscape. Textured fabrics mimick cactus ridges add depth to the designs, while an earthy color palette mirrors the hues of the desert. Drawing inspiration from cacti's organic shapes, structural elements like angular and asymmetrical cuts evoke erosion and the ever-changing scenery of the desert. To achieve reptile skin textures ethically, I opt for sustainable faux reptile skin fabrics, ensuring we capture the desert's essence without harming wildlife.
In accessories and details, I aimed to depict the graceful movement of reptiles navigating the shifting sands of the desert. Textured fabrics, raised patterns, and metallic accents create a visually striking effect, celebrating the beauty and resilience of these creatures.
Through my collection, I aspire to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and inspire others to join in preserving the natural beauty of the Nevada desert.
